We tend to think thar family drama is new thing but this book starts in the 30's and the families are intertwined, married, divorced, bigamy, common law. I have family referenced in this book as well as landmarks and towns I have been to. It's Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice combined with Bonnie and Clyde.
If you want to know the real skinney on this subject this books got you covered! Extraordinary research, great local color even the venacular is period correct! Great easy entertaining read.
Grew up with Roy Decker, lived in Alva when the robbery occurred. Lived only about one block from where the family lived.
Good accounting of the story. Some facts revealed that I wasn't ever aware of. Later on I worked at the same store he managed.
Exciting twist and turns in this book. It just amazes me how much people just get in jail over and over again. This is a good easy read, not too much lingo you can't understand. The writer takes you on a great journey thru the life of family and friends that just can't get it right.
There's lots of true crime stories out there, but you will be hard pressed to find one as accurately and thoroughly researched as this one. And don't be distracted by the "cop-speak" and grammatical errors (I must confess that I did help to edit this book). This little book reveals a true picture of some real crime families. And there is a small but surprising connection to Lee Harvey Oswald!!
A real detective writes about real outlaws in a unique account you won't find anywhere else. I read the version and thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through. This book shows that the truth is often stranger than fiction; I found myself unable to predict what these misfits would do from one caper to another. It's well worth the read.
Know the author and was pleasantly surprised by this book. Never heard of these outlaws and I'm glad to know some of Oklahoman's earlier history of our law enforcement and the types of children who grew from childhood into career criminals and the ends they met! The book was very well researched and presented in a lawman's terminology! I would recommend this true story to anyone, but especially to Oklahoman's to learn our history about paying attention to our children and their behavior that could lead to a life long career in crime.
